My very first configuration box / sættekasse

Finally I got it done... not that it has been a difficult task, but I must focus more on applying for jobs and less scrapping.. I need money to buy more wonderful scrap stuff...:-)

Enough said... this is an 8" x 8" box of plain wood nothing fancy. I painted it to get a crackle look first painting it on the side panels and back with ordinary school glue and then painted with acrylic paint. When it dries up it gives amazing texture. And then I covered it with paper...lol

I used the papers from Jodie Lee Design - Butterfly Garden and Fairy Belle both bought as downloads... beautiful subtle papers that coordinates wonderful.

I lined up all the compartments with paper and distressed the edges with Ranger's Vintage Photo.

I fussy cut three of the fairies and placed them on the front and I think they look lovely.

When you look at the close-ups you can see how I decorated each compartment with homemade roses as well as Orchid Crafts Roses, and a few gardenias from my stash. tiny cloths pins, metal embellishments, buttons, a cork for a spool, not to mention lace from my blog shop... check it out!

It really was a lot of fun creating it and I will be putting it up for sale on my upcoming open house.... However, if you really want this adorable and decorative item send me a mail.

It sells for DKK 199,- + shipping.

Thanks for stopping by and feel free to leave a comment..:-)

Altered antique box....

Hi there...

I have had this box for quite a while... Bright green....not all that pretty. And there was a piece of the rim of the lid that was broken off, so I had to mend it with some wall putty...

There are some amazing details on the side of the box that I didn't want to cover with paper, so I painted the entire box with gesso and dabbed some ivory acrylic paint a couple of places. Mixed a bright green with some black, taupe and yellow.... That was also dabbed around. Added some Graphic 45 papers.

Decorated the lid with some Wild Orchid Crafts roses, Prima roses and a big green rose from my stash. Prima bling. Distressed doilie from Sizzix/Tim Holtz, some cheese cloth and a small alarm clock charm.

This is NOT for sale, I'm so satisfied with it and love it.

Feel free to leave a comment and thanks for visiting...
Hugs

Altered suitcase

Don’t know how, but my mojo is flowing, and I have to restrain myself not to have more than one project on my desk at the time… my desk is quite small :-)

Being at a market day with my sister a month ago I bought this little red children’s cardboard suitcase it was quite beaten up and was used to store a puzzle with huge bricks and one glued on the top.

That lid decoration did not go with what I had in mind, so I pulled it off… and off came three layers of the cardboard, so I began to repair it a bit with pieces of the cardboard using my local decoupage glue. I was saved.

A very sweet and generous friend of mine Kisser had given me some awesome paper with some kind of velvet pattern from My Mind’s Eye “Lush”.

I measured and cut out paper to cover the entire little suitcase. Tried to see if I could remove the closing, but decided that if I did that I would most likely not be able to get back on, it would be too damaged.

When I’m gluing I’m worse than a 3-year old… I get it everywhere…. well, only when I’m using the decoupage glue ;-)

Finally got all the papers to work with me and into place.

Decorated with some of the lace I sell from my blog here… Made a big flower to center the flower cluster I planned. Found a cute cameo that I bought from Wild Orchid Crafts, where almost all of the other flowers come from.

Added a chipboard corner from Maya’s Road painted it silver and clear embossed it. Under the flowers I adhered a swirl from Tim Holtz, which also tasted my silver covered brush and embossed it too…

Finally I dyed some seam binding I’ve bought from a local online Scrap store ScrapFactory.dk.

Think it came out really cute… now I have to figure out what to put in it..:-) If you’d like to purchase it send me a mailJ

Thanks for stopping by… and feel free to leave a comment.

An altered jewelry box... now for sale...

I found this hideous old jewelry box... Quite damaged and water damaged.

Due to water there was a dent in the bottom, so I used some wall filler to make the surface even. Painted the whole thing with Gesso and then Ivory acrylic paint.

Found a 12 x 12 sheet of paper 7Gypsies with a Roman theme. Thought that it would match perfectly with the eyelet fabric I had in a goldish color.

Had to find a way to attach the top and the bottom as it used to be attached by a leather looking paper.... Found an old hinge that I spiked up with some copper  Airondac ink.

I think it turned out quite nice....however, I still need some more practice in this.

Thanks for watching...

Decorative wooden box - DKK 75,- + shipping

FI've had this box in my stash for a while waiting for inspiration to come:-)

I took it apart.... Those tiny screws...... Painted it with gesso (2 coats), measured and cut the paper.. I used the amazing Engraver paperline from Prima. Distressed the edges of the paper and colored the edges with Vintage Photo from Ranger. Glued the paper on. And distressed the edges of the box with Vintage Photo as well. Assembled it again. Decorated the top with a homemade black rose, a couple of small Mulberry roses, a heart for some bling and a tiny antique brass flower leaf and a black pearl string. Glued some pearls on the bottom.

Hope you like it... I still have a few "raw" boxes left for custom orders :-). Send me a mail with your request for color and I'll get back to you.

Tissue roll alteration...

A very cute decorating item hanging on the wall or even from a which hazel branch.
I uses a tissue roll covered it with this beautiful Webster paper. Pressed it flat in one end and glued it.
Decorated it with beautiful lace and roses. The large rose is homemade the small roses are mulberry roses. Then dabbed it with a little white texture paint to give it a little distressed look.
Try it out at home a very easy and fun project to make with kids...... and tissue rolls....? Then just keep coming :-).
Have a wonderful weekend.

Altered dominos..

Ever since I first saw an altered domino, I looked high and low to find some. Checking out the Danish alternative to Craig's list - DBA - I found some antique and very old, but at a price of DKK 1.500 equal to USD 300, so that was not an option. I had about given up when I saw a box of dominos for DKK 20 (USD 3.50).... Yay, now I could try to alter some myself.

Painted the dominos with Gesso followed by Distress Stains brass and copper. Then to choose what images to decorate with, it had to be tiny pattern and Prima's Fairy Rymes came to mind.... what could be more perfect than tiny faries:-). After I glued the images to the dominos I covered the images with Glossy Accent that gives that wonderful look. The first one - the one in the middle - came out perfect. The two others did cause a problem with bubbles that was very difficult to get out... missed a few... but you don't see it and they are sooooo cute..

Still pictures of my entry to the challenge and how I created it..

My reason for participating was to challenge my self in a forum with many and very experienced createurs. To prove that I could do it and with an end result that was beautiful.

I altered a cloths pin. Painted it with Gesso. I then mixed some white acrylic paint with a few drops of Rangers re-inker Tattered Rose which was dapped lightly on the cloths pin.

For decoration I used my absolute favorite paperline A Ladies Diary from Graphic 45. I fussycut an image of a lady with an umbrella.

As the required three laces I used two laces from my stash and a beautiful vintage doily I found at a garage sale.

Other embellishment: Prima wood embellishment (typewriters and clocks), roses from Scrapbookfun, Maya Road and homemade rose.

My entry to my first YouTube challenge....

It was so fun creating it... and it is really cute...
