Have had the most amazing holiday - however, spent home..
My best friend thru 35+ years came for a visit from California. She wanted to visit places from her childhood and youth.
While she rediscovered her roots and country history I was rediscovering it with her and enjoying every minute for a solid 15 days. It was amazing.
Old friends were found and invited to a reunion. Visiting Amalienborg, Kronborg, Fredensborg , Charlottenlund, Sorgenfri castles. The open air museum (Frilandsmuseet) to see how the Danes were living back in the 1600-1800... Tivoli and Bakken the two oldest amusement parks in the world.
Since Denmark has been blessed with a wonderful summer this year, the beaches was targeted as well. A tour Tisvildeleje, Rågeleje and Gilleleje where we bought fresh... I mean really fresh flounders that we enjoyed later that evening fried in butter and with new potatoes... Typical Danish and very delicious.
The beach trip also took us to Nivå beach a small and extremely kid friendly beach.... With very low water. Then the new and renovated Bellevue beach, a hip beach where you go if you want to be seen. But there are a lot of regular people who just plain want to enjoy a very nice beach:-).
Odense was on the list as well, her birthplace. H. C. Andersen's home was visited too, the souvenir shops as well.
Strøget in Copenhagen - walking street with endless shopping possibilities was checked out. As was a habour and canal boat trip, seeing Copenhagen from the water. The little Mermaid was photographed. The Royal Theater, Nyhavn, Dragør....
It was action packed but loved every minute.....
